Johnny Rivers and the Band
In 2002 Juan Lozano and Francisco José RÃos (Johnny Rivers) decided to get together saturday evenings to spend some spare time playing the bass and the acoustic guitar that they both had in a forgotten place at home. They soon realise that they like it (playing music together) every time more and more, and what begins like a sporadic reunion from time to time finally soon become the pleasant habit of every saturday evening. They start playing Henri Mancini and Gershwin’s songs with some old blues from the Fifties and Sixties. The following year, RÃos swap the acoustic guitar for a proper electric one, and Johnny Rivers´s Brother, Roberto RÃos, join them at the keyboards.
A little later, by the year 2005, Manuel Rubira (well known in JFM as DJ Manolo) join them at the electric guitar bringing new ideas as 80´s punk style, Blues, 60´s and 70´s Rock. This same year the band suffers a radical change as Juan Lozano buys a drum kit and became one of the lead singers, with Manuel that swap the electric guitar for the Bass and lead singing as well + chorus. For appreciatively one year they keep going on playing Rock, Spanish pop, and Blues cover versions as well as some homemade compositions when Juan Eloy nicknamed “El Pelos†joins the group as second guitarist. With this former Line up they manage to tour in the summer of 2008 under the name of The Chicamoïdes. After 3 years together Manuel left the band for personal reasons and was replaced in the bass by José Cristóbal nicknamed “el zurdi†and José Antonio Rubira nicknamed “el judÃo†in saxophone and choruses, the result is the present line up of the Band named by now JOHNNY RIVERS AND THE BAND.
