2.37 million permanent jobs
2.37 million permanent jobs by the end of 2011
Government expects to create 2.37 million permanent jobs in Spain by the end of 2011, with the new labour reform. The government estimates that the new labour reforms will allow the signing of 2.37 million permanent contracts from next July to the end of 2011, as recorded in the financial report accompanying the decree-law.
It is estimated that between July and December this year 895,723 could be signed permanent contracts, while in 2011 1,474,497. This optimism contrasts with most analysts' predictions. According to unionists, businessmen, economists and lawyers, the reform will not create short-term employment.
